Job summary

New York Public Library is hiring an After School Tutor for the Chatham Square Library. You will provide drop-in homework help and enrichment to children ages 6-12, with 16 hours per week scheduled Monday through Thursday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or current enrollment with two+ years of study, and prior tutoring or education experience. Orientation and staff meetings are part of the program year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or current undergrad with at least two years completed.
• Experience tutoring or teaching children and teens.
• Ability to engage 6-12 year olds and communicate with parents.

Responsibilities

• Lead NYPL After School homework help and enrichment 4 days a week 2-7 PM.
• Welcome and engage children 6-12 in drop-in activities.
• Deliver flexible academic support across math, reading, and science.
• Coordinate with staff and maintain attendance and supplies.
• Assist with program development and attend trainings.
