Job summary

Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital's River Valley Y Kids program in Boise seeks an After School Teacher to support children's development after school hours. You will join a teaching team, promote safety, relationships, and belonging while delivering the established curriculum.

Part-time, 15 hours weekly, schedule 3:30pm–6:00pm Monday through Friday during the school year. Pay ranges from $15.45 to $19.31 per hour, with required childcare licenses and CPR/First Aid prerequisites following a

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Minimum 1 year working with children is preferred.
• Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
• Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
• Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that fosters safety through active supervision and by role modeling safe behavior.
• Nurture children through purposeful programs dedicated to building relationships, achievement, and belonging.
• Develop intentional relationships and maintain effective daily communication with participants and parents.
• Implement the established curriculum.
• Use positive behavior guidance techniques to support children’s appropriate development and behavior.
• Monitor and ensure the health and safety of participants, families, staff, and volunteers by following and implementing Leading Practices.
• Use Y Core Values, developmentally appropriate practices, and effective teaching strategies to support each child’s unique background, needs and different learning styles.
• Maintain an indoor and outdoor environment that is well equipped, organized, safe, clean, and welcoming.
