Job summary

The Treasure Valley Family YMCA’s Silver Sage Y Kids program in Boise, Idaho, seeks part-time After School Teachers to join a team that supports child development and families’ diverse needs and interests.

This position offers 3:30pm-6:00pm, Monday–Friday through the school year, averaging 15 hours per week. Pay is $15.45-$19.31/hour. You’ll foster safety, relationships, and learning through engaging activities and family communication.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Minimum 1 year working with children is preferred.
• Ability to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
• Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
• Good interpersonal and communications skills; professional and articulate when dealing with others.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that fosters safety through active supervision and role modeling safe behavior.
• Nurture children through purposeful programs dedicated to building relationships, achievement, and belonging.
• Develop intentional relationships and maintain effective daily communication with participants and parents.
• Implement the established curriculum.
• Use positive behavior guidance techniques to support children’s development and behavior.
• Monitor and ensure the health and safety of participants, families, staff, and volunteers by following approved practices.
• Use core values and developmentally appropriate teaching strategies to support each child’s background and learning style.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming environment for play-based learning.
