Job summary

Treasure Valley Family YMCA’s Downtown Boise Y Kids program is seeking a Before School Teacher to join the team. This role focuses on creating a safe, nurturing environment and fostering each child’s development in collaboration with families.

The position is part-time, averaging 8-10 hours per week during the school year, with a schedule of 7:00am to 9:15am, 3–5 days per week. Pay is $15.45-$19.31/hour and requires licensure and pediatric CPR/First Aid prerequisites.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Minimum 1 year working with children preferred.
• Ability to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
• Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
• Good interpersonal and communications skills; professional and articulate when dealing with others.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that fosters safety through active supervision and by role modeling safe behavior.
• Nurture children through purposeful programs dedicated to building relationships, achievement, and belonging.
• Develop intentional relationships and maintain effective daily communication with participants and parents.
• Implement the established curriculum.
• Use positive behavior guidance techniques to support children’s development and behavior.
• Monitor and ensure health and safety of participants, families, staff, and volunteers by following leading practices.
• Apply Y core values and developmentally appropriate practices to support each child’s needs and learning style.
• Maintain a clean, well-equipped indoor and outdoor environment conducive to learning through play.
