Treasure Valley Family YMCA is seeking School Age Teachers for the Hunter Y Kids program in Meridian, ID. This part-time role averages 15-20 hours per week with shifts 6:45am-9:15am and 3:30pm-6:00pm during the school year.

Responsibilities include creating a safe, engaging environment, delivering purposeful activities to support child development, and maintaining open communication with families. Required are childcare licensing readiness, CPR/AED, and First Aid within 14 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • Must be 16 years of age or older and able to engage with children and families.
  • Minimum 1 year working with children preferred.
  • Ability to communicate warmly and effectively with participants and parents.
  • Must meet childcare licensing prerequisites upon hire and comply with safety standards.

  • Create a safe learning environment through active supervision and role modeling.
  • Nurture children with purposeful programs that build relationships and belonging.
  • Develop positive daily communication with participants and parents.
  • Implement the established curriculum and developmental activities.

Our Hunter Y Kids program in Meridian, ID is seeking School Age Teachersto join the team! These individuals are responsible for creating an environment with a teaching team that promotes each child's development and supports children and their family's diverse needs and interest.

The Treasure Valley Family YMCA's Child Development programs support children in their ongoing growth to ensure that they are ready for the next educational milestone, whether that be preschool, kindergarten, middle school, or high school.

Schedule:

This is a part-time position averaging 15-20 hours per week. Schedule requirements are 6:45am-9:15am and 3:30pm-6:00pm, Monday through Friday, through the school year.Pay is $15.45-$19.31/hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Create an environment that fosters safety though active supervision and by role modeling safe behavior.
  • Nurture children through purposeful programs dedicated to building relationships, achievement, and belonging.
  • Develop intentional relationships and maintain effective daily communication with participants and parents.
  • Implement the established curriculum.
  • Use positive behavior guidance techniques to support children's appropriate development and behavior.
  • Monitor and ensure the health and safety of participants, families, staff, and volunteers by following and implementing Child Development Branch approved Leading Practices.
  • Use Y Core Values, developmentally appropriate practices, and effective teaching strategies to support each child's unique background, needs and different learning styles.
  • Maintain an indoor and outdoor environment that is well equipped, organized, safe, clean, and welcoming. The environment is created based on the belief that all children learn best through play, positive adult interaction, and hands on open-ended experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Minimum 1 year working with children is preferred.
  • Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
  • Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.

Required Licensure and/or certifications:

  • Boise City and/or Idaho State Childcare License – Prerequisite upon hire, 14-day compliance period.
  • Pediatric CPR/AED – Prerequisite upon hire, 14-day compliance period.
  • First Aid – Prerequisite upon hire, 14-day compliance period.
