Job summary

The City of Sacramento seeks a Program Coordinator for the 4th "R" program to oversee after-school and summer care for children aged 5 to 12. You will plan activities, supervise staff, ensure licensing compliance, and maintain family communication.

Qualifications

• Two years of leadership experience in a recreational, educational, youth development, child care, special events, or community service setting, which included responsibilities such as organizing and providing general guidance over the activities of children, teenagers, and adults.
• Successful completion of college-level courses with major course work in recreation, education, child development, or a closely related field may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Completion of thirty (30) semester units is equivalent to one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct recreation, educational enrichment, child care, special events, youth development, or other community service activities and programs at neighborhood recreation, sports, or community facilities.
• Design, evaluate, and recommend continuance, modification, or cancellation of recreation, educational, child care, special events, and community service activities and programs.
• Determine facility, equipment, scheduling, and staffing requirements for programs and events.
• Coordinate departmental activities with related activities of other departments or outside agencies and groups.
• Coordinate and conduct part-time and seasonal recruitments.
• Develop and coordinate fund-raising events.
