Job summary

YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood seeks Group Leaders to tutor and assist lead instructors in STEM, leadership, sports, and the arts for 6th–8th graders. The role is part-time, with after-school hours Monday–Friday.

You will provide academic support, supervise groups, and help maintain a safe, engaging learning environment while modeling positive behavior and Jewish values. Prior middle school activity experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma.
• Experience with 6th–8th grade students.
• Able to write lesson plans and lead 45–60 minute activities.
• Must attend student engagement trips and host events.
• Must work Summer Rising program.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support, homework guidance, and supervision to students.
• Organize, lead, and promote student participation in activities.
• Supervise groups and maintain safety and well-being.
• Model professional conduct and appropriate boundaries.
• Establish behavior rules and maintain classroom order.
• Coordinate with Program Director on changes or issues.
• Participate in staff meetings and program evaluations.
