Job summary

YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood is seeking an Elementary After School Group Leader to support students at P.S. 173, 187, and 178. You will provide academic tutoring and assist lead instructors in developing skills in STEM, leadership, sports, and the arts.

Responsibilities include supervising groups, fostering a safe and engaging environment, coordinating with the Program Director, and participating in staff meetings and professional development throughout the school year.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma required (Bachelor's/Associate degree in progress acceptable).
• Experience running activities with Elementary (K-5) or Middle School (6-8) students with varying learning abilities.
• Experience writing lesson plans and leading 45-60 minute educational activities.
• Willingness to attend student engagement trips and support events.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support, homework guidance, and supervision for students.
• Organize and lead activities to engage students in STEM, leadership, sports, and arts.
• Supervise groups while ensuring safety and wellbeing.
• Model professional behavior and set clear boundaries.
• Coordinate with Program Director and staff on changes or issues.
• Participate in staff meetings, evaluations, and professional development.
