Job summary

YMCA of the East Bay is seeking a part-time Teachers Aide for the Y-Kids program in Castro Valley, CA. Assist in planning and implementing engaging activities, supervise children, and support a safe, inclusive environment before and after school.

The role emphasizes teamwork with staff, communication with families, and adherence to licensing standards while promoting curiosity, health, and positive development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in Early Childhood classroom preferred but not required.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Pre-employment health screening and TB clearance.
• Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certificates (total of 15 hours) or completion within 90 days of hire.
• LiveScan fingerprint and criminal record clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing curriculum within established guidelines and prepare necessary supplies for activities.
• Work cooperatively with staff to ensure program quality.
• Help achieve YMCA Child Care goals by promoting growth and exploration while supporting development.
• Care for the health and well-being of children and report any incidents promptly.
• Provide appropriate discipline methods aligned with program standards.
• Document notable behavior and situations to the supervisor as required.
• Maintain communication with school personnel, families, children and community agencies.
• Maintain required program records.
• Attend program activities, trainings, staff meetings and events.
• Keep the center clean and presentable and ensure licensing standards are met.
• Other duties as assigned.
