Job summary

WES Health System is seeking an After School Group Leader in Chicago, IL to plan and execute structured group activities focused on health, education, and recreation for children and adolescents. You will work with the Program Coordinator, monitor attendance, and outreach to families and community partners to strengthen youth programs.

The role emphasizes hands-on program development, supervision of students during activities, and maintaining accurate records in a dynamic after-school setting.

Qualifications

• Leadership of after-school activities with organized structure.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and coordinate with staff.
• Plan and provide nurturing, structured programming for youth.
• Maintain records including attendance and contacts.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Program Coordinator in maintaining policies and procedures.
• Serve as a core staff member and a point person for emergencies.
• Reports to the Program Coordinator any and all emergencies and/or problems.
• Plan, develop and provide a nurturing, structured and enriching program of after-school activities for students.
• Perform or assist with administrative functions and schedule planning.
• Maintain a clean and orderly environment for the program.
• Create structured well-rounded programs for students.
• Perform outreach for youth recruitment.
• Complete outreach to community leaders and groups to involve them in programming.
• Implement activities as planned and supervise students during all activities.
• Engage with children as a role model and employ Strength Based Youth Development approaches.
• Maintain student records and documentation as required by the program.
• Communicate with teachers and parents.
• Assist with behavior management and supervise breaks and snack time.
