Job summary

Washington Montessori School in Washington, CT is seeking an Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs. This part-time, hourly role leads After Care staff and serves as the day-to-day point person for the Nap Program, with backup coverage across Young Children’s Community, Lower School and Lower Elementary classrooms.

Responsibilities include supervising after-school activities, coordinating transportation-related pickups, and ensuring smooth end-of-day dismissals.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of positive discipline techniques used in a school setting.
• Familiarity with Montessori principles and practices for early education.
• Knowledge of childcare best practices and risk management.
• Understanding of scheduling hourly employees and related regulations.
• Strong group and classroom management skills.
• Experience mentoring and coaching staff.
• Basic First Aid and CPR certification (training provided by the school).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage After Care staff and supervise end-of-day pickup logistics.
• Organize the Lower School Nap Program, including staffing and parent communications.
• Provide coverage for lunches, recesses, and teacher breaks as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Community Room.
• Coordinate and manage end-of-day dismissal to parents/guardians.
