Job summary

Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County is seeking a Program Specialist to implement and supervise after-school and summer programs at a Durango site. The role reports to the Site Director and focuses on safe, engaging youth activities.

The position requires 18+ years of age, a high school diploma or GED, and a credential or experience with children. CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain is required. On-site supervision and program planning are key elements of the job.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience in working with children.
• Knowledge of youth development.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
• Ability to deal with the general public.
• Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
• Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
• Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications (or the ability to be certified).

Responsibilities

• Promote safety of members, quality in programs, and appearance of the Club site at all times.
• Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
• Promote and stimulate program participation, welcome new members and participate in their orientation process.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings.
• Assist in planning and conducting programs and activities.
• Recognize members for participation in program activities.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the program area on an ongoing basis.
• Maintain daily contact with club staff, club members, supervisor and volunteers to receive/provide information, discuss issues, and understand guidelines/instructions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
