Job summary

Port Washington Children's Center, Inc. in Port Washington, NY is seeking an After School Director to lead our after-school program, supervise staff, and ensure a safe, engaging environment for school-age children.

You will plan activities, coordinate with families, maintain attendance records, and ensure OCFS regulations and center policies are followed. The role offers Monday–Friday hours after school with opportunities for program planning and events.

• Experience with school-age children.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the After School Program
• Supervise, support, and coordinate after-school staff
• Create a safe, positive, engaging environment for children
• Plan activities, games, arts and crafts, homework time, enrichment
• Ensure proper staff-to-child ratios and supervision
• Communicate with parents/guardians professionally
• Maintain attendance and program records
• Assist with staff scheduling and daily organization
• Address children's needs and behavioral concerns positively
• Ensure OCFS regulations and center policies are followed
• Communicate with PWCC administration about needs and concerns
• Create special activities and events for children
• Support a positive team environment
• Assist with transitions, dismissal, and transportation as needed
