After-School Program Leader — Part-Time Mentor

Job summary

Think Together is seeking a Substitute Program Leader in California to support students as a positive role model and mentor. This part-time role involves working at multiple sites, providing homework help, enrichment activities, and maintaining a safe, engaging learning environment.

Applicants should have high school graduation or GED, 48 college semester or 60 college quarter units or pass an Instructional Aide Test, and be able to communicate effectively in English.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children and ability to inspire and motivate.
• Proof of graduation from High School or GED.
• 48 college semester or 60 college quarter units required / and/or by passing an Instructional Aide Test (in some districts)
• Ability to speak and write standard English appropriate in a public school setting.
• Must be available at least 3 days a week (Mon-Fri).
• Program start/end times roughly 1:00 PM–6:00 PM; times may vary.

Responsibilities

• Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment and physical activity using program curriculum and materials.
• Create an engaging environment that fosters belonging for kids.
• Support students in positive behavior choices and discipline when needed.
• Engage children and youth by following and assisting in lesson plans.
• Ensure student safety by helping with setup, break down and site maintenance.
• Promote positive interactions between volunteers and students per safety guidelines.
• Maintain student safety by taking roll and reviewing sign-ins/outs.
• Identify student needs and communicate with Site Coordinator and school staff.
• Commit to a full-year program; arrive on-time and complete time cards.
• Participate in staff development activities.
