Job summary

Think Together is seeking a Substitute Program Leader to support students at multiple sites in California. The role is part-time with a pay rate of $20.50 per hour, focusing on academics, enrichment, and safe, supervised activities after school.

You will lead with patience, establish authority, and act as a positive role model while following provided lesson plans and safety guidelines. The position requires high school graduation and availability five days a week.

Qualifications

• Must have experience working with young children and ability to inspire and motivate.
• Proof of graduation from High School or GED is required; additional college units or test may be required.
• Ability to speak and write standard English suitable for a public school setting.
• Must be available 5 days a week (Mon-Fri).
• Program start/end times roughly 1:00 PM–6:00 PM; times may vary with school schedules.
• Must pass Live Scan (background check), TB test, and K–8 testing where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment and physical activity using curriculum and materials provided by the program.
• Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging for students.
• Support students in making positive behavior choices and take disciplinary measures when appropriate.
• Engage children by following, implementing, and assisting in lesson plans.
• Ensure student safety by assisting in setup, breakdown, and ongoing site maintenance.
• Promote positive interactions between volunteers and students in line with child safety guidelines.
• Maintain student safety by taking roll and reviewing sign-in/sign-outs.
• Identify student needs and communicate to Site Coordinator, teachers, school administration, parents, and volunteers as appropriate.
• Commit to a full-year program, arriving on-time and completing time cards.
• Participate in staff development activities.
