Job summary

Discovery Club within Saint Paul Public Schools is seeking Child Care Program Leaders to guide after-school activities for children aged 4–12. You will independently lead groups up to 15 students or co-lead larger groups with other staff, while creating engaging weekly plans and supporting student development.

We expect dedication to safety, behavioral guidance, and relationship-building, helping students develop homework skills and social competencies in a structured, caring setting.

Qualifications

• Education/experience options: assoc degree/cert + 1040 hours supervised work with children.
• Two years of post-secondary education + 1040 hours supervised work with children.
• Bachelor’s degree + 1040 hours supervised work with children.
• Bachelor’s degree with an elementary teaching license or completed student teaching for relevant age groups.

Responsibilities

• Lead groups of up to 15 students, or jointly lead larger groups with other Discovery Club staff.
• Create weekly lesson plans to support learning and development.
• Provide appropriate behavior guidance and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Develop long-term supportive relationships with Discovery Club participants; assist with homework skills.
• Teach and model social skills, personal responsibility, problem-solving, respect, and related skills.
• Carry out health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe environment.

Education

Associate degree or cert in child development + 1040 hours
