Job summary

Global Kids is seeking an after-school counselor to work in NYC public schools, 2 pm–6 pm on weekdays. Positions are in person and require a HS diploma; college enrollment is a plus. You will run interactive workshops, mentor youth, and help manage groups during program hours.

The role requires strong facilitation, communication, and cultural sensitivity, with a preference for candidates with global issues knowledge and multilingual abilities. Competitive hourly wages apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma is required; college enrollment preferred.
• Experience with youth using interactive learning strategies.
• Commitment to working in diverse settings with antiracist practices.
• Knowledge of global issues and social activism.
• Strong facilitation and conflict-resolution skills.
• Reliable, proactive, creative, and eager to learn.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Spanish or Haitian Creole language skills a plus.
• Global Kids alumni are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Create and facilitate interactive, experiential workshops for middle or elementary students.
• Serve as a positive mentor for GK youth.
• Help with group management and ensure safety during check-in, transitions, and activities.
• Assist with supervising students and never leaving them unattended.
• Chaperone trips.
• Collect program documents and attendance.
• Follow GK, DOE, DYCD, and Health guidelines.
• Available to work 20-25 hours Mon-Fri and some weekends.
