Job summary

The YMCA of the North Shore is hiring a Group Leader for Out of School Time Programs in Beverly, MA. This part-time role supports child development and leads engaging activities in a safe, inclusive environment.

You will plan age-appropriate activities, supervise children, and communicate with families and the Site Coordinator. The position offers training, benefits, and opportunities for growth within YMCA locations.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Must meet all licensing requirements for a Group Leader as established by the applicable licensing agency.
• Demonstrated understanding of child growth and development; apply developmentally appropriate practices.

Responsibilities

• Create a positive and inclusive environment that supports children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
• Welcome and orient children and families to the program.
• Build meaningful relationships with participants and encourage positive behavior.
• Ensure all children feel safe, valued, and included.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate activities and lesson plans.
• Lead games, enrichment activities, creative projects, and group experiences.
• Adapt activities to meet diverse needs and interests of participants.
• Provide weekly lesson plans to the Site Coordinator.
• Maintain active supervision of children at all times.
• Follow YMCA policies, licensing regulations, and safety procedures.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents appropriately.
• Maintain accurate attendance and program documentation.
• Foster relationships with parents/guardians.
• Communicate information to Site Coordinator.
• Collaborate with staff to create a successful program environment.
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
• Keep spaces organized, safe, and welcoming.
• Monitor equipment and facilities and report concerns.
• Model the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
