Job summary

Gaston County Family YMCA is seeking an energetic, part-time After School staff member for our YMCA locations in Gastonia, NC. You will supervise and engage groups of children, build positive relationships with families, and support a safe, fun after-school environment.

Responsibilities include planning developmentally appropriate activities, maintaining safety protocols, and collaborating with team members and program directors to ensure high-quality programming for kindergarten through 8th

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age.
• Previous experience working with children, preferred.
• Specific certifications and/or training may be required (e.g., Praesidium Academy Child Abuse Prevention Training, CPR/First Aid, New Employee Orientation).

Responsibilities

• Provide active supervision of assigned participants at all times, ensuring safety, well-being, and engagement.
• Plan, lead, and participate in developmentally appropriate activities aligned with YMCA values.
• Serve as a positive role model with professionalism, integrity, and respect in all interactions.
• Maintain positive relationships with participants, parents/guardians, and staff while upholding YMCA values.
• Assist with daily program operations and required events.
