Job summary

White Bear Lake Area Schools is hiring for multiple Child Care Assistant positions in our Extended Day Programs, operating at nine elementary schools. The role supports K–5 students before and after school with safe, engaging activities in a caring environment.

Responsibilities include supervising groups, planning enrichment activities, and maintaining positive behavior standards while collaborating with families and staff to deliver high-quality programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum age: 16 years old.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED (required if 18 years or older).
• Experience working with school-aged children (formal or informal).
• Successful completion of background check.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a group of elementary-aged students during before and/or after school hours.
• Plan and implement engaging enrichment and recreational activities that reflect student interests and promote learning, creativity, and social development.
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment through strong group management, relationship-building, and clear behavior expectations.
• Support student well-being by implementing daily routines, maintaining a safe and organized space, and following individualized support plans as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors and families to ensure high-quality program delivery.
