Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties seeks a Before and After School Lead Teacher to join our Tacoma team. You will support the YMCA Child Care Program year-round with safe, engaging activities that help school-aged children grow in health, safety, and academics.

As Lead Teacher you will partner with the program director, conduct parent conferences, mentor new staff, and ensure compliance with YMCA policies and WA state regulations.

Qualifications

• You are at least 21 years old.
• Two years of full-time management experience preferred.
• 12+ college quarter credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
• Willing to complete STARS training within 60 days of hire and WA State requirements within 4 years.

Responsibilities

• Conduct parent conferences and maintain positive relationships with parents.
• Collaborate with program director and branch leadership to advocate for team needs.
• Oversee onboarding of new site staff, including shadowing and coaching.
• Ensure conformance with YMCA policies and Washington Administrative Code.
• Promote a positive, safe environment reflecting YMCA values and leadership principles.
• Attend family nights and program activities.
