Job summary

New Settlement in the Bronx is seeking a Group Leader to supervise and support a group of 15–25 students in the elementary program. The role focuses on positive mentorship and facilitating engaging activities in a supportive after-school setting.

Hours are afternoons, Monday–Friday, with some holidays. The program serves grades K–8 from September to June, with possible summer programming. Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to youth development are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one-year experience working with school age children preferably in an educational setting (school or after‑school program).
  • Knowledge of youth development practices.
  • Must be sensitive to diverse cultures.
  • Possess strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, adhere, and enforce program expectations and policies as laid out by leadership.
  • Sets a positive tone with students.
  • Assist with providing quality hands-on activities.
  • Ensure the safety of students at all times.
  • Collaborate with after school staff and teachers.
  • Interact positively with parents at dismissal.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training.
