Job summary

Good Shepherd Services is seeking an After School Group Leader to oversee the safety, development and daily activities of a middle- or high-school age group. You will plan and supervise educational projects, recreation and arts and crafts while fostering positive relationships.

The role requires at least 1 year of related youth group experience, a High School diploma or GED, and the ability to engage youth from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School/ GED Diploma and 1 year related experience in leading and participating in youth group development activities.
• Experience building a camp culture through chants, team building activities, and community building preferred.
• Can contribute a talent or experience in arts, music, crafts, etc. a plus.
• A commitment to working with youth from diverse backgrounds while providing high quality services.
• Commitment to strength-based, youth and family development and trauma-informed perspective.

Responsibilities

• The After School Group Leader is responsible for the overall safety, development, management, organization and planning of their group.
• Engage participants in after school activities and model appropriate behavior.
• Develop and facilitate a sequenced curriculum including arts, literacy/history when applicable.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; assist with monitoring program rules and events.
• Supervise support staff and track participant development and growth.
• Ensure safe arrival and dismissal of all participants and maintain required records.
