Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County is seeking an Enrichment Leader to supervise a group of youths ages 5-12, assist with homework, plan and implement enrichment activities, and create a safe, engaging learning environment.

The role includes supporting online learning, maintaining safety, and modeling positive behavior. Requires 18+ and a high school diploma; CPR/First Aid certification is required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma/GED.
Sincere interest in and ability to work with groups of children ages 5-12 years of diverse ethnic populations.
Skill set to lead students in at least two of the following areas: recreational games, crafts, drama, songs, science, art, team building or sports.
Completion of Child Abuse Prevention training prior to working with program participants.
CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required, including Adult and Child/Infant, within 30 days of hire from a recognized organization.

Responsibilities

Contribute to planning and implementation of the daily program in accordance with YMCA policies.
Plan and implement lesson plans for activities in arts & crafts, cooking, science, engineering, sports, drama and others.
Support and guide students with attending online distance learning and homework completion.
Create an age-appropriate learning environment encouraging creativity and individuality.
Actively supervise participants ensuring guidance and safety at all times.
Maintain positive relationships with staff, students and families.
Recognize and respond to needs of individual students.
Adhere to work schedule and be prepared for activities at the start of each shift.
Serve as role model to all students and participate in staff meetings.
Provide positive behavior guidance supporting developmental, social-emotional and physical needs.
