Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County is seeking an Enrichment Leader to supervise a group of youths ages 5-12, assist with homework, plan and implement enrichment activities, and create a safe, engaging learning environment.

The role includes supporting online learning, maintaining safety, and modeling positive behavior. Requires 18+ and a high school diploma; CPR/First Aid certification is required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma/GED.
• Sincere interest in and ability to work with groups of children ages 5-12 years of diverse ethnic populations.
• Skill set to lead students in at least two of the following areas: recreational games, crafts, drama, songs, science, art, team building or sports.
• Completion of Child Abuse Prevention training prior to working with program participants.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required, including Adult and Child/Infant, within 30 days of hire from a recognized organization.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to planning and implementation of the daily program in accordance with YMCA policies.
• Plan and implement lesson plans for activities in arts & crafts, cooking, science, engineering, sports, drama and others.
• Support and guide students with attending online distance learning and homework completion.
• Create an age-appropriate learning environment encouraging creativity and individuality.
• Actively supervise participants ensuring guidance and safety at all times.
• Maintain positive relationships with staff, students and families.
• Recognize and respond to needs of individual students.
• Adhere to work schedule and be prepared for activities at the start of each shift.
• Serve as role model to all students and participate in staff meetings.
• Provide positive behavior guidance supporting developmental, social-emotional and physical needs.
