Job summary

YMCA in San Diego, CA is seeking an Enrichment Leader to supervise a group of 5–12 year olds, assist with homework, and plan engaging enrichment activities. You will model positive behavior, ensure safety, and support a warm, constructive daily program under the Enrichment Supervisor.

Responsibilities include planning lessons across arts, crafts, cooking, science, sports and drama; guiding online learning, maintaining a clean, safe space, and coordinating with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma/GED.
• Interest in working with groups of children ages 5-12 from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to lead students in at least two areas: recreational games, crafts, drama, songs, science, art, team building or sports.
• Completion of Child Abuse Prevention training prior to working with program participants.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification from recognized organizations (within 30 days of hire).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to planning and implementation of the daily program in accordance with YMCA policies.
• Plan and implement lesson plans for activities in arts & crafts, cooking, science, engineering, sports, drama and others.
• Support and guide students with attending online distance learning and homework completion.
• Create an age-appropriate learning environment fostering creativity and individuality.
• Actively supervise program participants, ensuring guidance and safety at all times.
• Maintain a positive relationship with staff, students and families.
• Lead activities and respond to individual student needs.
• Adhere to schedule and be prepared for activities at each shift start.
• Model positive behavior to all students.
• Participate in staff meetings and activities.
• Provide positive behavior guidance supporting developmental, social-emotional and physical needs.
• Adhere to YMCA dress code and Code of Conduct and Mission Statement.
• Keep space neat, organized, clean and safe.
• Be flexible with daily schedule changes.
• Respond to incidents and handle emergencies.
• Lead sports, games and curriculum activities; perform housekeeping duties.
• Support additional duties as assigned.
