Job summary

City of Kent is seeking After School Energy site supervisors to lead daily activities for children in grades K-5. Position is 9–10 hours per week, with late-afternoon shifts at multiple sites, starting Sep 2026 and ending May 2027.

Salary is $20.75 per hour, with open until filled. You will work under the Youth and Teen Manager and Program Coordinator, supervise staff, organize activities, and foster positive relationships with participants, families, and department staff.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and pass a Sterling background check.
• Must have First Aid/CPR certification prior to start date.
• Experience supervising staff and organizing activities is preferred.

Responsibilities

After School Energy consists of approximately 20-30 participants and 2 youth leaders. Duties include but are not limited to supervising staff, organizing and leading daily activities, and developing positive supportive relationships with participants, parents, and other department staff. Activities include group games, sports, arts and crafts.Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age; Applicants are subject to a Sterling background check. Must have First Aid/CPR certification prior to program start date.Preferred Qualifications: 1 year or more of experience working with children in recreation, teaching or day camp environment; knowledge of age appropriate athletic and social activities, crafts and other large group activities for children between 6-12 years old; experience in supervising staff, ability to live by Kent Parks mission of “Dedicated to Enriching Lives” and demonstrate the following characteristics: responsible, respectful, honest, energetic, passionate, flexible, original, creative, dependable, thoughtful.Temporary employees with the City of Kent do not receive insurance or time off benefits outside of those which are legally mandated.
