Job summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego is seeking an After School Education and Safety Group Leader to provide virtual and classroom instruction, tutoring, and engaging activities for students. You will lead groups of 10–20 youth across academic, enrichment, and recreation areas in a safe, structured environment at club and school sites.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 48 college units or CAPE; or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with school-aged youth preferable.
• Experience with Zoom/Skype for virtual instruction.
• Effective communication in virtual conferencing.
• Ability to plan and implement quality youth programs.
• Ability to lead and supervise groups of children.
• Ability to maintain positive learning environments and address behavioral challenges.
• Emergency procedures familiarity and ability to respond appropriately.
• CPR and First Aid Certifications within 30 days of hire.
• Physical ability to be active for ~5 hours daily.

Responsibilities

• Deliver virtual and classroom instruction and tutoring in after-school programs.
• Lead engaging academic, enrichment, and recreational activities for groups of 10–20 youth.
• Develop culturally relevant daily lesson plans and activities.
• Differentiate activities to meet varying abilities.
• Coordinate program services and cooperative learning activities.
• Plan, lead, and evaluate activities to promote participation and skill development.
• Maintain program attendance records and submit reports timely.
• Assist with setup/cleanup of materials and ensure equipment safety.
• Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and families.
• Occasionally commute to school sites to distribute packets or kits.
• Other duties as assigned.
