Job summary

Chess Wizards, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic instructors to join our after-school enrichment program in Birmingham, MI. Lead fun chess classes for elementary students using our curriculum and foster a positive, engaging learning environment.

You’ll teach 1–5 classes per week in local schools, typically between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, with mileage reimbursement for travel over 15 miles one-way. Training is provided and opportunities for advancement are available.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or tutoring groups of children.
• Ability to lead a class independently and engage students.
• Positive, kid-friendly demeanor and safety awareness.
• Strong punctuality and time-management skills.
• Reliable personal transportation to travel between schools.
• Availability on weekday afternoons (2:00–5:00 PM) for 1–5 classes per week.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Use the curricula to teach chess fundamentals and sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students.
• Follow school safety protocols during activities.
