Job summary

Chess Wizards, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic instructors for an after-school enrichment program in Northville, MI. You will lead structured, fun chess classes for 10–15 elementary students in weekday afternoon sessions (2:00 PM–5:00 PM), travel to local schools, and follow safety protocols.

This is a fall-season role with mileage reimbursement for trips over 15 miles one-way. Competitive pay per class ($50–$65) and opportunities for advancement are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar)
• Comfort leading a class independently and creating interactive, friendly, and fun sessions
• Professional, positive, and kid-friendly demeanor
• Genuine desire to be a positive role model and promote good sportsmanship
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals and ability to explain basics clearly for kids
• Ability to connect chess problem-solving to real-life problem-solving
• Reliable personal transportation and ability to drive between locations
• Weekday availability 2:00 PM–5:00 PM to teach 1–5 classes per week
• Commitment to school safety protocols and reliable/safe supervision of students
• Strong punctuality and time-management skills

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10-15 elementary students
• Teach chess fundamentals using our structured curriculum
• Maintain a lively, positive classroom atmosphere
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking
• Follow school safety protocols during arrival, dismissal, and in-class activities
• Travel to various local school sites for each session
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students
