Job summary

Chess Wizards, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic Assistant Instructors to support our fall after-school enrichment program at Pottstown, PA. You will assist a lead instructor with lively, kid-friendly chess sessions for 15–22 elementary students, fostering engagement and sportsmanship.

Position offers flexible hours (2:00–5:00 PM), mileage reimbursement for travel over 15 miles, and training with full curriculum. Prior teaching or tutoring experience is a plus, and reliable transportation is required.

Qualifications

Genuine interest in working with elementary students.
Teaching or tutoring experience is a plus.
Ability to follow directions and support classroom management.
Professional, positive, kid-friendly demeanor.
Desire to model good sportsmanship and behavior.
Reliable transportation and punctuality.

Responsibilities

Assist the Chess Instructor in setting up and managing a fun, interactive class for 15–22 students.
Provide one-on-one or small-group support to practice piece movements and basics.
Support guidance of activities, keep students engaged, reinforce positive behavior.
Follow curriculum and promote good sportsmanship with the instructor.
Maintain a lively, confident, and positive classroom environment.
Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
Adhere to school safety protocols during arrival, dismissal and activities.
Travel to various local school sites for each session.
