Great Hearts Academies invites applications for an After-School Program Assistant to supervise students after school and assist with activities under a Lead Teacher. This part-time, seasonal role supports a warm, structured environment aligned with our classical curriculum.

The ideal candidate demonstrates professional conduct, strong communication, and a commitment to student development. 15–20 hours weekly, with some flexibility for early release days and campus needs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 17 years old and have a high school diploma/equivalent or currently enrolled in high school/equivalent.
• First aid/CPR certification preferred but not required.
• Ability to supervise and engage students in after-school activities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise up to 20 students in a classroom setting under the supervision of a qualified staff member per AZDHS.
• Facilitate homework, recess, and other activities.
• Present lessons from provided classical curriculum.
• Model and instill Great Hearts 9 Core Virtues (responsibility, perseverance, integrity, honesty, courage, citizenship, humility, friendship, wisdom).
• Follow standard operating procedures to ensure high quality programs.
• Follow all licensing rules and regulations per AZDHS.
• Follow protocols for responding to and documenting student behavior and significant events.
• Escalate incident reports and significant events to supervisor.
• Substitute at another campus when needed.

This is a wonderful opportunity for aspiring educators or for those who love working with children. This is a part-time, seasonal, non-exempt, non-benefited position. After-school programs are open Monday-Friday from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. (earlier start on early release days). Approximately 15-20 hours per week.Duties and Responsibilities:Supervise up to 20 students in a classroom setting under the supervision of a qualified staff member per AZDHS.Facilitate homework, recess, and other activities.Present lessons from provided classical curriculum.Utilize appropriate child guidance and classroom management strategies.Model and instill Great Hearts 9 Core Virtues (responsibility, perseverance, integrity, honesty, courage, citizenship, humility, friendship, wisdom).Follow standard operating procedures to ensure high quality programs.Follow all licensing rules and regulations per AZDHS.Follow protocols for responding to and documenting student behavior and significant events.Escalate incident reports and significant events to supervisor.Substitute at another campus when needed.Other duties as assigned.Required/Preferred Education: Some experience or college preferred but not required. Must be at least 17 years of age and have a high school diploma/equivalent or currently enrolled in high school/equivalent. First aid/CPR certification preferred but not required.Required/Preferred Skills: The successful candidate will be a principled, professional leader with an independent work ethic and a heart of service to others. They must demonstrate sound business judgment and wisdom in dealing with people. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.Physical Functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. Running, jumping and other rapid movements may also be required.
