Great Hearts Academies in Glendale, CA, seeks an After-School Program Assistant to supervise students after dismissal and support a Lead Teacher in delivering a classical curriculum. The role is part-time, seasonal, and non-benefited, with afternoon hours Monday through Friday and approximately 15–20 hours weekly.
The ideal candidate is at least 17, may have some college or experience, and should be prepared to work in a small classroom setting while modeling Great Hearts 9 Core Virtues.
Co-Curricular Program Assistants facilitate activities and supervise students in the after-school program under the supervision of a Lead Teacher or other qualifying staff member. This is a wonderful opportunity for aspiring educators or for those who love working with children. This is a part-time, seasonal, non-exempt, non-benefited position. After-school programs are open Monday-Friday from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. (earlier start on early release days). Approximately 15-20 hours per week.
Some experience or college preferred but not required. Must be at least 17 years of age and have a high school diploma/equivalent or currently enrolled in high school/equivalent. First aid/CPR certification preferred but not required.
The successful candidate will be a principled, professional leader with an independent work ethic and a heart of service to others. They must demonstrate sound business judgment and wisdom in dealing with people. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. Running, jumping and other rapid movements may also be required. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
