Job summary

Great Hearts Academies seeks an After-School Program Assistant to supervise students and assist with activities after school, under a Lead Teacher's guidance. This part-time, seasonal role runs Monday through Friday from dismissal until 6:00 p.m., with roughly 15–20 hours per week.

You will support homework help, recess, and other activities, promote the school's 9 Core Virtues, follow safety procedures, and help maintain a positive learning environment for elementary and middle school students.

Qualifications

• Some experience or college preferred but not required.
• Must be at least 17 years of age and have a high school diploma/equivalent or currently enrolled in high school/equivalent.
• First aid/CPR certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise up to 20 students in a classroom setting under the supervision of a qualified staff member per AZDHS.
• Facilitate homework, recess, and other activities.
• Present lessons from provided classical curriculum.
• Model and instill Great Hearts 9 Core Virtues (responsibility, perseverance, integrity, honesty, courage, citizenship, humility, friendship, wisdom).
• Follow standard operating procedures to ensure high quality programs.
• Follow all licensing rules and regulations per AZDHS.
• Follow protocols for responding to and documenting student behavior and significant events.
• Escalate incident reports and significant events to supervisor.
• Substitute at another campus when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

This is a wonderful opportunity for aspiring educators or for those who love working with children. This is a part-time, seasonal, non-exempt, non-benefited position. After-school programs are open Monday-Friday from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. (earlier start on early release days). Running, jumping and other rapid movements may also be required.
