Job summary

Arts for Learning Maryland seeks a Mentor Teaching Artist for its After-School Enrichment program at the Baltimore area schools. The role mentors emerging artists, plans engaging arts workshops, and ensures student safety before, during, and after program hours.

The position is temporary and non-exempt, paying $40 per hour, with 3 hours daily commitment from 2:30pm to 5:00pm on school days. PD dates are TBA and sick leave is provided in a limited capacity.

Qualifications

• A passion for mentorship, coaching and talent development.
• Strong communication skills, with an ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly.
• An ability to effectively provide feedback.
• Demonstrable expertise in an art form, and ability to present artistic samples.
• A willingness to be flexible in service to the After-School Enrichment program.
• A passion for students and the ability to build meaningful relationships.

Responsibilities

• Mentor a group of emerging artists by exemplifying best teaching artist practices.
• Lead engaging arts exploration workshops for students.
• Establish a positive after-school climate for all students and build supportive relationships.
• Attend professional development and planning meetings as instructed.
• Collaborate with and support partners and site leads for a safe program.
