Job summary

Arts for Learning Maryland is seeking an After-School Enrichment Substitute Classroom Lead for the Wildwood ES/MS program. The role focuses on student safety, relationship-building, and active supervision during a dynamic after-school schedule.

The position runs weekdays aligned with the Baltimore City Schools calendar and pays $40 per hour. It is temporary and non-exempt, with Sick and Safe leave as the available time-off benefit.

Qualifications

• Willingness to be flexible in service to After-School Enrichment program and Arts For Learning Maryland.
• Passion for students and ability to build meaningful relationships.
• Interest in arts integration, exploration, and enrichment.
• Willingness to contact parents regularly via school landline or personal phone.
• Ability to create inclusive environments that acknowledge diverse identities.
• Ability to examine biases and understand systemic racism in education policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure safety of students before, during, and after program.
• Establish a positive after-school climate and engage families and staff.
• Complete required paperwork and communicate progress to families.
• Collaborate with partners and Teaching Artists to support activities.
• Provide one-on-one instruction and support to students as needed.
• Assist with setup/breakdown and lift up to 20 lbs; stay active throughout the program.
