Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois is seeking an experienced teacher to plan, implement and supervise the after-school academic component at the Satellite Site in Springfield. You will align activities with school standards and monitor progress with Site Director and School Principal.

Youth development is central: you will engage students, foster positive relationships, manage attendance, and help with field trips and program reports while ensuring safety and a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
• Current teaching certificate.
• At least three years’ experience planning and implementing programs for youth.
• Knowledge of youth development; motivate and guide youth with positive relationships.
• Ability to relate to public, parents and participants in a friendly, professional manner.
• Ability to convey Boys & Girls Club policies and discipline procedures.
• Ability to organize and supervise participants to maintain a safe environment.
• CPR and First Aid Certifications are required.
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm, energy and commitment in interactions.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements activities within budget constraints to achieve program objectives.
• Provides schedules and reports of activities to leadership; takes direction from Site Director.
• Assists with referral of participants and aims to increase attendance and participation.
• Implements guidance and discipline policies for club participants.
• Identifies community resources and plans new program offerings.
• Plans activities that showcase participant skills; plans field trips when needed.
• Represents the organization to participants, parents and the public.
• Involves parents in addressing participant development issues.
• Maintains facility cleanliness and orderly program spaces.
• Assists with other program areas as assigned.
• Assist Site Director in development, planning and implementation of the academic program.
• Monitor daily delivery of the academic program and align with school standards.
• Assist in development of lesson plans and tracking attendance.
