Job summary

POAH Communities seeks a Leasing Assistant to join the Heritage Village team in North Kingstown, RI. The role reports to the Property Manager and supports marketing, screening, and rent collection for affordable housing units.

Responsibilities include managing wait lists, eligibility, rents, and compliance with HUD rules, while coordinating with residents and staff to ensure safety and asset preservation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience in affordable property management or LIHTC leasing.
• Strong verbal, written and customer service communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with computers, including Word and Excel.
• Familiarity with Yardi software is a plus.
• Knowledge of HUD regulations, forms and inspection criteria.

Responsibilities

• Manage marketing of vacant units and rent collection to meet budget goals.
• Advertise available apartments using varied media and materials.
• Navigate the occupancy cycle for public housing programs.
• Assist residents with interviewing and screening processes.
• Understand lease and grievance procedures.
• Support the Property Manager to protect assets and safety.
• Maintain wait lists, evaluate eligibility, and calculate rents/utility allowances.
