Job summary

Saab is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician on the 3rd shift in West Lafayette, IN to ensure tooling availability and drive tooling improvements. You will liaise between tooling engineers and production, supporting studies, testing, and implementation of new tooling solutions.

You should have an Associate Degree in STEM or equivalent experience, with 2+ years in aircraft manufacturing or tooling, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years comparable work experience.
• 2+ years of technical/assembly in aircraft manufacturing.
• Tooling selection / application experience in manufacturing.
• Basic tooling design.
• Troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures.
• Tooling performance testing and reporting.
• Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and aerospace quality awareness.
• GD&T understanding and documentation experience.
• Proficient in Excel reporting; CAD experience is a plus.
• Driven, innovative, takes initiative with teamwork.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently or in a team.
• Must be able to sit/stand for long periods; lift up to 50 lb.
• Willing to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area
• Provide support for tooling studies and application
• Conduct performance testing for tooling and provide reports
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues
• Propose new tooling solutions and capital project installation
• Contribute to a people-first culture aligned with Saab values
• Assist assemblers with tool use and safety
• Ensure tooling compliance to aerospace standards
• Champion Saab values day-to-day
• Other tasks as assigned
