Job summary

Saab, West Lafayette, IN, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for the 3rd shift to ensure proper tooling supply, drive tooling improvements and maintain compliance with aerospace standards. You will act as a bridge between tooling engineers and production, supporting tooling studies and capital projects.

Requirements include an Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years in aircraft manufacturing, plus tooling design/testing, CAD/Excel skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. U.S.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in STEM discipline OR 2+ years comparable work experience is required.
• 2+ years of technical/assembly in aircraft manufacturing is a plus.
• Tooling selection/application experience in manufacturing setting.
• Basic tooling design and tooling performance testing.
• Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and knowledge of aerospace quality regulations a plus.
• Proficiency with Excel and CAD is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area.
• Provide support for tooling studies and applications.
• Conduct performance testing for tooling and provide analyses.
• Investigate tooling issues and propose solutions.
• Assist installation of new tooling capital projects.
• Support a people-first culture aligned with Saab values.
• Assist assemblers with proper and safe use of tools.
• Ensure tooling compliance to aerospace standards.
• Work independently or with the production team and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
