Job summary

Saab in West Lafayette, IN is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician on 3rd shift to ensure tooling readiness, drive improvements, manage inventory, and serve as a bridge between tooling engineering and production. The role emphasizes maintaining tooling accuracy, supporting studies, and implementing capital tooling projects.

The position requires an Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years in aircraft manufacturing, with experience in tooling, GD&T, and CAD.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years in aircraft manufacturing is required.
• 2+ years of technical/assembly experience in aircraft manufacturing is a plus.
• Tooling selection/application experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Basic tooling design knowledge.
• Troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures for failure modes.
• Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Understanding aerospace quality regulations is a plus.
• Proficiency with computer reporting, including Excel spreadsheets.
• CAD software experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area.
• Provide support for tooling studies and application.
• Conduct performance testing for tooling and provide technical analysis reports.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues.
• Propose new tooling solutions/designs and contribute to installation of new tooling capital projects.

• Assist assemblers with proper and safe use of tools.
• Ensure tooling compliance to Aerospace standards.
