Job summary

Steel Tool & Engineering Co. in Trenton, MI, seeks an Aerospace Precision Tooling Machinist to translate CAD drawings into tooling with CNC and manual machines. You will build, repair, and maintain tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for aerospace production, while ensuring quality and safety standards.

The role requires strong CNC and manual machining skills, CAD reading, and a 3–5 year background in a tool room. Apprenticeship or journeyman credentials are highly valued in a precision environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a tool room or precision machining environment is required.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD/CAM files.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and specs to define tooling requirements.
• Fabricate, assemble, and finish tooling with CNC and manual equipment.
• Set up and operate CNC and manual machines to produce precision components.
• Verify dimensional accuracy using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and CMMs.
• Diagnose wear/failure and perform tool repair and preventive maintenance.
• Plan machining sequences and setups to deliver parts efficiently.
• Document work and communicate changes to engineering and production.
