Job summary

Saab West Lafayette is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for 3rd shift to ensure tooling readiness in assembly areas and drive tooling improvements. You will support tooling studies, perform performance testing, and assist assemblers with safe tool usage while aligning with Saab values.

Ideal candidates have STEM education or 2+ years aircraft manufacturing experience, with GD&T understanding, CAD/Excel skills, and the ability to work extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in STEM or 2+ years comparable experience.
• 2+ years in aircraft manufacturing/assembly or systems installations is a plus.
• Tooling selection/application experience in manufacturing setting.
• Basic tooling design.
• Troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures.
• Tooling performance testing and reporting.
• Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Understanding of aerospace quality regulations/standards is a plus.
• Competent GD&T understanding.
• Proficiency with computer reporting (Excel).
• CAD software experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area.
• Provide support for tooling studies and application.
• Conduct performance testing for tooling and provide technical analysis reports.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues.
• Propose new tooling solutions/designs; contribute to installation of tooling capital projects.
• Support a people-first culture aligned with Saab values.
• Assist assemblers with proper and safe use of tools.
• Ensure tooling compliance to Aerospace standards.
• Champion Saab values: Trust, Drive, Expertise, and Support.
• Other tasks as assigned.
