Job summary

Saab, Inc. in West Lafayette, IN, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for the 3rd shift to drive tooling improvements, manage inventory, and support production teams.

The role interfaces between tooling engineering and manufacturing to maintain tooling readiness and compliance. Requirements include an Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years of comparable experience, plus strong tooling, CAD/Excel reporting, and GD&T knowledge.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in STEM or 2+ years of comparable work experience.
• 2+ years of technical/assembly in aircraft manufacturing is a plus.
• Tooling selection/application experience in manufacturing setting.
• Basic tooling design knowledge.
• Troubleshooting tooling issues and providing countermeasures for failure modes.
• Tooling performance testing and reporting.
• Ability to operate machining and measurement equipment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Understanding aerospace quality regulations/standards is a strong plus.
• Proficient with computer reporting (Excel).
• CAD software experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area.
• Provide support for tooling studies and application.
• Conduct performance testing for tooling and provide technical analysis reports.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues.
• Propose new tooling solutions/designs and contribute to installation of new tooling capital projects.
• Assist assemblers with proper and safe use of tools.
• Ensure tooling compliance to Aerospace standards.
• Champion Saab's Company values.
• Other tasks as assigned.
