Job summary

Actalent in Nashua, NH is seeking a Test Hardware Design Engineer to design and develop mechanical test fixtures, stands, and tooling for aerospace and defense environments. You will create 3D CAD models, drawings, and fabrication packages while supporting environmental, vibration, thermal, and production testing.

The role requires hands-on fixture design experience, GD&T knowledge, and collaboration with electrical, software, and systems teams to integrate instrumentation and data acquisition

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Mechatronics or related field.
• 3–8+ years of mechanical design experience, especially in test equipment.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools and detailed engineering drawings.
• GD&T knowledge per ASME Y14.5 and fabrication-ready documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical test fixtures, stands, and tooling for verification activities.
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings, and fabrication packages for test hardware.
• Design hardware for environmental, vibration, thermal, and production testing.
• Develop sensor mounting and data acquisition hardware for accurate measurements.
• Perform structural, thermal, and tolerance analyses to meet safety requirements.
• Coordinate fabrication and installation with internal teams and suppliers.
• Troubleshoot issues and implement design improvements.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and systems teams to integrate instrumentation.
