Job summary

IDEAS-TEK in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop flight and ground-support hardware for aerospace systems. You will create enclosures, chassis, and interfaces, and work with electrical, FPGA, systems engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure reliable, producible designs.

The role covers concept to deployment, including thermal management and environmental considerations. Experience in aerospace environments and qualification testing is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD and mechanical design tools.
  • Experience creating engineering drawings with GD&T.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, enclosures, chassis, brackets, structural elements, and mounting systems for aerospace applications.
  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Define mechanical interfaces between electronic, electrical, thermal, structural, and system components.
  • Perform tolerance analysis, stack-up analysis, and design-for-manufacturability assessments.
  • Collaborate with electrical, embedded, FPGA, systems engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure manufacturability and flight-readiness.
  • Support thermal-management solutions including conduction paths and heat sinks.
  • Participate in design reviews and failure investigations, and support qualification testing.
