Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Level 2/3 Systems Safety Engineer in Rancho Bernardo, CA. You will apply system safety engineering to identify, assess, and mitigate hazards across the lifecycle and prepare safety artifacts for reviews and customers.

You must meet the education requirements and hold an active US Secret clearance or higher. Primary salary range starts at $91,800 and can go to $137,600, with a secondary range up to $171,000, plus bonuses and benefits.

Qualifications

• B.S. in a STEM field with 2+ years relevant experience, or(M)aster's in STEM with relevant experience.
• Active US Government Secret clearance or higher is required.
• Experience in aerospace/defense or mission-critical systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform system safety engineering across the lifecycle, including hazard analysis, tracking and mitigation.
• Develop and maintain safety requirements, ensure allocation, implementation and verification.
• Conduct analyses such as PHA, FHA, SSA, FMEA/FMECA and FTA as applicable.
• Plan and execute safety validation with acceptance criteria and supporting data.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate safety into design and verification.
• Support preparation of safety artifacts (hazard logs, safety case) for reviews and customers.
• Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders and resolve safety issues.
