Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Mechanical Structural Engineer to join the Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department for onsite work. You will contribute to structural and thermal analyses across product lifecycles, from design trade studies to qualification testing and production support.

Entry level engineers will join a team of 200+ engineers and work with tools like PATRAN, NASTRAN, ANSYS, and ABAQUS, performing hand calculations and coordinating peer reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM major obtained by start date.
• Experience in structural design and analysis.
• Experience with PATRAN, NASTRAN, ANSYS, ABAQUS or equivalent software.
• Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform hand calculations and determine requirements for higher order detailed analysis
• Perform detailed structural analyses to solve various program structural design challenges
• Generate test plans required to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance to requirement
• Analyze test data to validate and correlate models, and/or generate mechanical loads and environments
• Work with experienced analysts on problems of moderate complexity to provide the answers needed under program cost and schedule constraints
• Coordinate and lead technical peer reviews ensuring the technical accuracy of work product
• Present results to internal stakeholders and external customers
• Generate detailed, archival technical reports
