Job summary

Saab is seeking 3rd shift Structural Assemblers at its West Lafayette, IN facility to build the aft fuselage for the U.S. Air Force T-7A Red Hawk. These roles involve assembling aircraft structures, training new team members, and contributing to Saab's state-of-the-art production system.

The starting hourly rate is $23-$25 with a $2 shift premium. Applicants should have 2+ years of assembly experience, the ability to read drawings, and proficiency with hand and power tools.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and gripping.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble aircraft structure and final fuselage components per procedures.
• Train new team members and share knowledge.
• Support continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
• Perform functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Handle Class A surfaces and touch-up painting.
• Sign off when work meets specifications.
