Job summary

AV is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for its 12-week Summer Internship Program in California. You will join a multidisciplinary team to contribute to real-world software projects across AV's technologies, including ground control systems, data pipelines, and simulations.

This onsite program is for students currently enrolled in college or recent graduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA. You will gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to Agile development while building practical

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
• Familiarity with IDEs like Visual Studio, Git, Eclipse.
• Experience with data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, coding, testing, and debugging of software components and systems.
• Contribute to development of tools and applications for AV robotics and aerospace platforms.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems teams to integrate and test new capabilities.
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and use of version control and defect tracking tools.
• Help develop scripts or automation to improve team workflows and efficiency.
• Learn and apply best practices in software development and Agile methodologies.
• Support development of prototypes, simulations, and proof-of-concept demonstrations.
• Attend team meetings, contribute ideas, and learn to estimate development effort and timelines.
