David Clark Company seeks a Softgoods Designer to create and develop patterns for space suit and protective equipment. The role focuses on pattern design, grading, and collaboration with engineers and QA to ensure design integrity.

You will drive CAD workflows, evaluate materials, and refine prototypes while maintaining meticulous attention to detail and clear communication across teams. This is a full-time position in Worcester, MA with standard day shifts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, textiles, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in softgoods design, pattern design, or CAD desired.
  • Familiarity with core softgoods technologies including stitching, cementing, ultrasonic/RF sealing, pattern design and grading.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the original creation and development of safety and protective clothing for space suits and related equipment.
  • Creates and designs patterns for the development of new products.
  • Originates and develops design concepts considering appearance, functionality, materials and production costs.
  • Develops and refines patterns for space suit assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  • Interfaces with engineers, QA, and production teams to refine concepts.
  • Researches materials and develops material specifications.
  • Coordinates fabrication, test, and evaluation of prototypes.
